"There are places of intersection between Neil Jordan's latest outing, Breakfast on Pluto, and his Academy Award-winning The Crying Game. Both revolve around a transgendered individual who becomes embroiled in Northern Ireland's troubles. But the similarities end there. The new movie is more exuberant (as befits an adaptation of a novel by Patrick McCabe, whose The Butcher Boy Jordan previously adapted), and the transvestite at the heart of this rollicking comedy-drama."
