Single White Female (1992)
The film is smooth, entertaining and believably sophisticated. It has far more sound psychological underpinnings than other movies of its type. In Alli and Hedy it has two characters whose complexity supports the breathless melodramatics that climax the film. The willful and somewhat spoiled Alli doesn't quite invite Hedy's obsessive devotion, but it takes her a long time to recognize its fatally inconvenient power.
